Section 45-8A-22.87

Termination of employment; return of contributions; return to employment.

If the employment of any participant is terminated for any reason prior to his or her qualifying for any of the benefits set for herein, he or she shall be entitled to receive the return of all contributions, without interest, made by him or her to the plan. If he or she subsequently returns to the employment of the police or fire department, he or she shall be treated as a new employee and accrual of benefits shall begin as of the date of his or her reemployment.
