12-1141. Definitions In this article, unless the context otherwise requires: 1. "Authorized corporation" means a corporation or association engaged or about to engage in a public works project, as defined in this article, for a public use, but the construction of the public works project and its conduct thereafter by the corporation or association is subject to regulation or supervision by a federal agency, as defined in this article, or a state public body, as defined in this article, whether by virtue of an agreement, provision of law or otherwise. 2. "Court" means the court in which jurisdiction over proceedings under this article is vested by the provisions of section 12-1142. 3. "Federal agency" means the United States, the federal emergency administration of public works or any other agency or instrumentality, corporate or otherwise, of the United States. 4. "Plaintiff" means the person by whom proceedings for acquisition of real property, as defined in this article, are instituted pursuant to the provisions of section 12-1142. 5. "Public works project" means a work or undertaking which is financed in whole or in part by a federal agency, as defined in this article, or by a state public body, as defined in this article. 6. "Real property," "property" or "land" means all lands, including improvements and fixtures thereon, lands under water, all easements and hereditaments, corporeal or incorporeal, and every estate, interest and right, legal or equitable, in lands or water, and all rights, interests, privileges, easements, encumbrances and franchises relating thereto, including terms for years and liens of judgment, mortgage or otherwise. 7. "State public body" means the state or a county, city, town, municipal corporation, authority or any other subdivision, agency or instrumentality thereof, corporate or otherwise.
