15-708. Remedial education programs; powers of the governing board; definition A. Beginning July 1, 1980 school districts with an estimated student count of five thousand or less for the 1980-1981 school year may provide remedial education programs to children with learning problems who are presently being served in special education programs as provided in article 4 of this chapter but who will no longer qualify for special education from and after July 20, 1979. B. Beginning July 1, 1980 school districts with an estimated student count of more than five thousand for the 1980-1981 school year shall provide remedial education programs to children with learning problems who are presently being served in special education programs as provided in article 4 of this chapter but who will no longer qualify for special education from and after July 20, 1979. C. Nothing in this section or section 15-709 shall be construed to preclude a school district from providing remedial education programs for children not specifically provided for in this section or section 15-709. D. The governing board may employ teachers who hold a valid Arizona teachers certificate or supportive personnel as deemed necessary for the operation of a remedial education program. E. In this section and section 15-709, unless the context otherwise requires, "remedial education programs" means curricula to supplement the regular school curricula to assist children with learning problems in achieving the level they are expected to achieve in the regular classroom.
