16-422. Definitions; applicability of general laws A. In this article, unless the context otherwise requires: 1. "Ballot", in its relation to a voting machine, means that portion of the cardboard, paper or other material within the ballot frames containing the name of the candidate, party designation or a statement of a proposed constitutional amendment, or other question, proposition or measure with the word "yes" for voting in favor of any proposed constitutional amendment, question, proposition or measure, or the word "no" for voting against any thereof. 2. "Irregular ballot" means the vote cast for or on a special device for a person whose name does not appear on the ballot labels. 3. "Protective counter" means the separate counter built into a voting machine which cannot be reset and which records the total number of movements of the operating lever. B. The provisions of other election laws shall apply as far as practicable to voting machines except as provided in this article. |
