16-581. Elderly or handicapped persons; inaccessible polling places; definitions

A. If the board of supervisors determines that a polling place is inaccessible to elderly or handicapped persons, it shall provide for alternative voting according to procedures established by the chief election officer of the state pursuant to the voting accessibility for the elderly and handicapped act (P.L. 98-435; 98 Stat. 1678, 1984; 42 United States Code section 1973).

B. For the purposes of this section:

1. "Elderly" means sixty-five years of age or older.

2. "Handicapped" means having a temporary or permanent physical disability that substantially restricts or limits a person's access to polling places.
