48-613. Public records; duties of engineer A. The superintendent shall keep the records required by this article in his office in the municipality and they shall be open to inspection during office hours. B. The engineer shall do the surveying and all other engineering work necessary under this article. He shall do the surveying and measuring of work to be done under contracts for grading and macadamizing streets, and the estimating of costs and expenses thereof. Every certificate signed by the engineer in his official capacity shall be prima facie evidence of the truth of its contents. He shall keep a record of all surveys made by him. In municipalities where there is no engineer, the governing body may appoint a suitable person to discharge such duties and fix the compensation therefor.
