      Sec. 17a-10b. Commissioner to use best efforts to notify grandparent when child removed from custody of parent. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 17a-28, if the Commissioner of Children and Families removes a child from the custody of a parent, the commissioner shall use best efforts to identify and notify the grandparents of the child not later than fifteen days after the child is removed from the home. A grandparent may provide contact information to the commissioner for the purposes of such notice if the child is the subject of an investigation by the commissioner or has been, or is under, the care or supervision of the commissioner.
