Sec. 8-169v. Acceptance of real property from United States government.

      Sec. 8-169v. Acceptance of real property from United States government. Notwithstanding any other provision of sections 8-169o to 8-169u, inclusive, an urban homesteading agency may accept, on behalf of the municipality, any real property tendered to it without payment by the United States of America, acting by and through the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, pursuant to the provisions of Section 810 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (P.L. 93-383). Upon acquisition of real property by the urban homesteading agency under this section, the urban homesteading agency shall publish at least twice a notice in a newspaper having general circulation in the municipality that such property is available. Such notice shall include the estimated purchase price, the qualifications of the applicant, procedures for bidding on the property and the closing date for such bidding. The second notice shall be published not less than two weeks before such closing date. In addition, thereto, the legislative body of a municipality may, upon recommendation of the urban homesteading agency, authorize conveyance of such real property to an urban homesteader meeting the requirements of Subsection (b)(3) of Section 810 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 in accordance with the requirements and procedures set forth in Section 810 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and any regulations promulgated thereunder by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
