§142-92 - Mongoose; keeping or breeding; penalty.

     §142-92  Mongoose; keeping or breeding; penalty.  It shall be unlawful for any person to introduce, keep or breed any mongoose within the State except upon and according to the terms of a written permit which may be granted therefor by the department of agriculture, in its discretion, to scientists, scientific institutions, associations, or colleges, or to officers, boards, or commissions of the State or any county.  The department shall not issue a permit authorizing the keeping or breeding of mongoose within either the county of Kauai or the island of Lanai.  Any person who violates this section shall be fined not less than $250 nor more than $1,000 for each mongoose introduced, kept or bred contrary to this section.
