Chapter 5. University Faculty Oath

Faculty oath or affirmation
Sec. 1. Except as provided in section 2 of this chapter, before
beginning employment, each professor or other individual serving in
a teaching capacity in a state educational institution shall subscribe,
before an officer authorized by law to administer oaths, to the
following oath or affirmation:
"I solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the
Constitution of the United States of America, the constitution
of Indiana and the laws of the United States and of Indiana, and
will, by precept and example, promote respect for the flag and
the institutions of the United States and of Indiana, reverence
for law and order and undivided allegiance to the government
of the United States."
Two (2) copies of this oath or affirmation shall be executed. One (1)
copy shall be filed with the president of the state educational
institution. The individual subscribing to the oath or affirmation shall
retain the other copy.

Alien faculty oath
Sec. 2. Before beginning employment, each person who is:
(1) a citizen or subject of any country other than the United
States; and
(2) to serve as a professor or in another teaching capacity in a
state educational institution;
shall subscribe to an oath to support the United States' institutions
and policies during the individual's stay in Indiana.
