Custodian of public records; duties
Sec. 1. The secretary of state shall be the custodian of the public
records of the state of Indiana, except as required by law to be
deposited elsewhere, and shall keep his office and all books and
papers thereto pertaining in such places in the state buildings as may
be assigned. He shall arrange, record, file, register, index, and keep
all books, blanks, reports, orders, receipts, accounts, papers,
documents and business pertaining to his office, or deposited therein,
and in such form and manner as will make the same most convenient
of access.
