7A.27 OTHER NECESSARY PUBLICATIONS -- WHEN NECESSARY TO SELL. Other miscellaneous documents, reports, bulletins, books, and booklets may be published that are needed for the use of the various officials and departments of state, or are of value for the information of the general assembly or the public, in form and number most useful and convenient, to be determined by the director of the department of administrative services. When such publications, paid for by public funds furnished by the state, contain reprints of statutes or rules, or both, they shall be sold and distributed at cost by the department ordering the publication if the cost per publication is one dollar or more, unless a central library or depository is established. Such publications shall be obtained from the director of the department of administrative services on requisition by the department ordering the publication, and the selling price, if any, shall be determined by the director of the department of administrative services by dividing the total cost of printing, paper, distribution, and binding by the number printed. The price shall be set at the nearest multiple of ten to the quotient thus obtained. Distribution of such publications shall be made by the director gratis to public officers, purchasers of licenses from state departments required by statute, and departments. Funds from the sale of such publications shall be deposited monthly in the general fund of the state, except the cost of distribution shall be deposited in the printing revolving fund established in section 8A.345.
