602.1210 - SELECTION OF CHIEF JUDGES.

602.1210 SELECTION OF CHIEF JUDGES. Not later than December 15 in each odd-numbered year the chief justice shall appoint chief judges of the judicial districts, subject to the approval of the supreme court. The chief judge of a judicial district shall be appointed from those district judges who are serving within the district. A chief judge shall serve for a two-year term and is eligible for reappointment. The supreme court, by majority vote, may remove a person from the position of chief judge. Vacancies in the office of chief judge shall be filled in the same manner. An order appointing a chief judge shall be filed with the clerk of the supreme court, who shall mail a copy to the clerk of the district court in each county in the judicial district.          Section History: Recent Form 83 Acts, ch 186, § 1210, 10201 Referred to in § 602.1101
