602.6608 - CHILD SUPPORT REFEREE.
602.6608 CHILD SUPPORT REFEREE. 1. The chief judge may appoint and may remove for cause with due process a referee to preside over child support proceedings. 2. Qualifications for a referee appointed under this section include, at a minimum, all of the following: a. The referee shall be an attorney currently licensed to practice law in the state. b. The referee shall have at least five years of experience in the practice of law. c. The referee shall have at least two years of experience in the practice of family law, including experience in the area of child support, in the state of Iowa. 3. Duties of the referee are limited to presiding over child and medical support proceedings which are delegated to the referee by the chief judge or jointly by the chief judges of the affected judicial districts if the referee is authorized to preside over proceedings in more than one judicial district. 4.
