135B.2 PURPOSE. The purpose of this chapter is to provide for the development, establishment and enforcement of basic standards (1) for the care and treatment of individuals in hospitals and (2) for the construction, maintenance and operation of such hospitals, which, in the light of existing knowledge, will promote safe and adequate treatment of such individuals in hospitals, in the interest of the health, welfare and safety of the public.          Section History: Early Form [C50, 54, 58, 62, 66, 71, 73, 75, 77, 79, 81, § 135B.2]
