136D.2 DEFINITIONS. As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires: 1. "Department" means the Iowa department of public health. 2. "Director" means the director of public health, or the director's designee. 3. "Phototherapy device" means a piece of equipment that emits ultraviolet radiation and that is used by a health care professional in the treatment of disease. 4. "Tanning device" means any equipment that emits electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths in the air between 200 and 400 nanometers and that is used for tanning of human skin, such as sunlamps, tanning booths, or tanning beds. The term also includes any accompanying equipment such as protective eyewear, timers, and handrails. 5. "Tanning facility" means a place that provides access to tanning devices for compensation.          Section History: Recent Form 90 Acts, ch 1220, §2
