222.18 COUNTY ATTORNEY TO APPEAR.
The county attorney shall, if requested, appear on behalf of any
petitioner for the commitment of a person alleged to be mentally
retarded under this chapter, and on behalf of all public officials
and superintendents in all matters pertaining to the duties imposed
upon them by this chapter.
Upon the filing of the petition, the court shall enter an order
directing the county attorney of the county in which the person who
is alleged to have mental retardation resides to make a full
investigation regarding the financial condition of that person and of
those persons legally liable for that person's support under section
