322.7 LICENSE OF MOTOR VEHICLE DEALER. 1. If the department grants the application of any person for a license as a motor vehicle dealer, it shall evidence the granting thereof by a final order and shall issue to the person a license in such form as may be prescribed by the department, which license shall include the following: a. If the applicant is an individual or a partnership, the name or style under which the licensee will engage in such business. b. The principal place of business of the licensee and location therein of each place wherein the licensee is licensed to carry on such business. c. The make or makes of new motor vehicles which the licensee is licensed to sell. 2. The instrument evidencing the license or a certified copy thereof provided by the department shall be kept posted conspicuously in the principal office of the licensee and in each place of business maintained and operated by the applicant pursuant to the license in this state. 3. The license of a motor vehicle dealer is valid for a two-year period and expires, unless revoked or suspended, on December 31 of even-numbered years. 4. The motor vehicle dealer license provided for in this chapter shall be renewed upon application in the form and content prescribed by the department and upon payment of the required fee. A used motor vehicle dealer license shall not be renewed for an applicant who is subject to continuing education requirements until the licensee certifies completion of the educational requirements for license renewal under section 322.7A. The certification may be transmitted to the department by the education provider in electronic format. A licensee shall have the month of expiration and the month after the month of expiration to renew the license.
