      21-3409.   Assault of a law enforcement officer.(a) Assault of a law enforcement officer is an assault, as defined inK.S.A.21-3408 and amendments thereto:

      (1)   Committed against auniformed or properly identifiedstate, county or city law enforcement officer while such officer is engagedin the performance of such officer's duty; or

      (2)   committed against a uniformed or properly identified university orcampus police officer while such officer is engaged in the performance of suchofficer's duty.

      (b)   Assault of a law enforcement officer is a class A personmisdemeanor.
