Article 33.--COMPETENCY OF DEFENDANT TO STAND TRIAL

      22-3306.   Task force to study programs for allegedoffenders with disabilities who are potentially incompetent to stand trial andmake recommendations.The secretary of social and rehabilitation services shallconvene a task force to study current programs and laws for alleged offenderswith disabilities that render such offenders potentially incompetent to standtrial, butwho do not meet the criteria for involuntary commitment under Kansas law. Thetask force shall review and make recommendations on the adequacy of Kansasprograms and services, and current Kansas law, in protecting public safety andin providing services and support to such alleged offenders. The secretaryshall report to the judiciary committee during the 2001 interimand shall make a final report including programmatic and statutoryrecommendations to the 2002 legislature.
