24-651. Same; funds for payment of claims.When the total obligations existing against the drainage district at thetime of adoption of the resolution to disorganize, or when the right ofany creditor to be paid a definite amount has been established, then theboard of trustees shall certify the amount of money necessary to pay thesame to the board of county commissioners of the county in which theland of the district is situated and said board of county commissionersmay raise such money in accordance with and under the provisions ofK.S.A. 24-601 to 24-640: Provided, All suitspertaining to the levy and collection of such tax shall be brought anddefended by the board of trustees. The county treasurer shall pay suchtaxes when received to the treasurer of the board of trustees, and theboard shall pay the same in satisfaction of the claims for whichcollected.
