24-658. Same; petition by verified landowners; county clerk to furnishrecord of ownership, when.Before any such drainage district shall be organized, a petition shallbe filed in the office of the secretary of state, signed by not less thantwo-fifths (2/5) of the landowners within said proposed district as shownby a verified list of said landowners taken by a landowner of said proposeddistrict to be selected by the first ten (10) signers of the petition. Averified list of landowners shall be attached to and filed with thepetition in the office of the secretary of state as an exhibit:Provided, That for purposes of determining ownership, the county clerkof the county in which any part of the proposed drainage district isdescribed shall, upon demand, furnish the record of the ownership of thelands within the county from the tax rolls of said county, and said recordof ownership shall be satisfactory evidence of title.
