Chapter 25.--ELECTIONS Article 3.--INDEPENDENT AND OTHER NOMINATION CERTIFICATES; TERMS OF OFFICE; FILLING VACANCIES

      25-301.   Party nominations; presidential electors; governor and lieutenantgovernor.All nominations made by political parties shall be known and designatedas "party nominations," and the certificates by which such nominationsare certified shall be known and designated as "party certificates ofnomination." Party nominations of candidates for public office can bemade only by a delegate or mass convention, primary election or caucusof qualified voters belonging to one political party having a nationalor state organization. Party nominations for presidential electors can be madeonly by a delegate or mass convention or caucus of qualified electorsbelonging to a political party having a national or state organization.Party nominations for governor and lieutenant governor can be made onlyby a delegate or mass convention of qualified electors belonging to apolitical party having a national or state organization and any suchpolitical party must be one that is not permitted to nominate itscandidates by primary election, and such nominations shall be made withthe candidates being selected so that each convention vote shall be madefor a candidate for governor and a candidate for lieutenant governorrunning together. Party nominations so made shall, subject to theprovisions of this act, be placed upon the official general ballot.
