Chapter 38.--MINORS Article 5.--DETENTION AND PARENTAL HOMES OR FARMS

      38-554.   Youth residential and detention facilities in Sedgwick county;administration and control; budget; tax levy, use of proceeds.The board of county commissionersof Sedgwickcounty shall authorize an expenditure per annum for allowed expensesincurred in the operation of public youth residential and detentionfacilities.

      The administration and control of such facilities shallbe under the supervision of the board of county commissioners. The board ofcounty commissioners shall set an annual budget of the costs and expensesfor the purchase, improvement, operation and maintenance ofthe facilities and payment of salaries of staff members. The boardof county commissioners shall levy a tax as inthe case of providing for other expenses of the county on the assessedtaxable valuation of the county for such purpose and to pay aportion of the principal and interest on bonds issued under the authorityof K.S.A. 12-1774, and amendments thereto, by cities locatedin the county.
