Chapter 48.--MILITIA, DEFENSE AND PUBLIC SAFETY
Article 9.--EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS FOR DISASTERS

      48-949.   Definitions.As used in this act:

      (a)   "Division" means the division of emergency management within the officeoftheadjutant general.

      (b)   "Emergency responder" means any person in the public or private sectorwho: (1) Hasspecial skills, qualifications, training, knowledge and experience which wouldbe beneficial to aparticipating political subdivision in response to a locally-declared emergencyas defined in anyapplicable law or ordinance or authorized drill or exercises; and (2) isrequested or authorized, orboth, to respond. An emergency responder may or may not be required to possessa license, certificate, permit or other official recognition for the emergencyresponder's expertise in aparticular field or area of knowledge. "Emergency responder" may include, butis not limited to,the following: Law enforcement officers, fire fighters, emergency medicalservices personnel,physicians, nurses, public health personnel, emergency management personnel,public workspersonnel and persons with skills or training in operating specializedequipment or other skillsneeded to provide aid in a declared emergency.
