Chapter 49.--MINES AND MINING
Article 6.--SURFACE-MINING LAND CONSERVATION AND RECLAMATION

      49-617.   Same; cancellation of bonds by surety prohibited; substitute bondrequired, when.No bond filed with the director by an operator pursuant to thisact may be canceled by the surety without at least 90 days' notice to thedirector. If the license to do business in Kansas of any surety of a bondfiled with the director is suspended or revoked, the operator, within 90 daysafter receiving notice thereof from the director, shall substitute for thesurety a corporate surety licensed to do business in Kansas.Upon failure of the operator to make substitution of surety as hereinprovided, the director shall have the right to suspend the operator'sauthorization to conduct surface mining on the site or sites covered by thebond until substitution has been made. The Kansas commissioner of insuranceshall notify the director whenever the license of any surety to do business inKansas is suspended or revoked.
