Chapter 53.--NOTARIES PUBLIC AND COMMISSIONERS
Article 1.--NOTARIES PUBLIC

      53-115.   Cancellation of notary public's bond; notice requirements.No surety on a notary public's bond shall cancel such bond without givingwritten notice thereof to the secretary of state. Fourteen (14) days afterreceipt of such notice by the secretary of state, said surety shall no longerbe liable on such bond.

      Whenever the secretary of state receives notice of a surety's intentionto cancel a notary's bond, said secretary of state shall notify the affectednotary public that unless such notary files another good and sufficient suretybond with the secretary of state on or before the cancellation date of suchnotary public's surety bond, then such notary will no longer be authorized toperform notarial acts within this state.
