Chapter 59.--PROBATE CODE Article 30.--GUARDIANS OR CONSERVATORS

      59-3053.   Natural guardian; powers andresponsibilities.(a) A natural guardian shall have the rightto the custody of the natural guardian's minor child and the right to exercisecontrol over the personof the natural guardian's minor child as provided by law, unless a guardian hasbeen appointed forthe minor. The natural guardian of such minor has the right and responsibilityto hold in trustand manage such person's estate for such person's benefitall of the personal andreal property vested in such minor when thetotal of such property does not exceed $10,000 in value, unless a guardian orconservator has been appointed for the minor.

      (b)   Nothing in this act shall be construed to relieve a natural guardian ofany obligationimposed by law for the support, maintenance, care, treatment, habilitation oreducation of that naturalguardian's minor child.
