Chapter 60.--PROCEDURE, CIVIL Article 16.--DIVORCE AND MAINTENANCE

      60-1611.   Effect of a decree in anotherstate.A judgment or decree of divorce rendered in any otherstate or territory of the United States, in conformity with the laws thereof,shall be given full faith and credit in this state, except that, if therespondent in the action, at the time of the judgment or decree, was a residentof this state and did not personally appear or defend the action in the courtof that state or territory and that court did not have jurisdiction over therespondent's person, all matters relating to maintenance, property rights ofthe parties and support of the minor children of the parties shall be subjectto inquiry and determination in any proper action or proceeding brought in thecourts of this state within two years after the date of the foreign judgment ordecree, to the same extent as though the foreign judgment or decree had notbeen rendered. Nothing in this section shall authorize a court of this state toenter a child custodydetermination, as defined in K.S.A. 38-1337 and amendments thereto contrary tothe provisions of the uniform child custody jurisdiction and enforcementact.
