Article 5.--LIMITATIONS OF ACTIONS

      60-515.   Persons under legal disability.(a) Effect. Except as provided in K.S.A. 60-523, if any personentitled to bring an action, other than forthe recovery of real property or a penalty or a forfeiture, at thetime the cause of action accrued or at any time during the period thestatute of limitations is running, is less than 18 years of age, anincapacitated personor imprisoned for a term less than such person's natural life, such personshall be entitled to bring suchaction within one year after the person's disability is removed, except thatno such action shall be commenced by or on behalf of any person underthe disability more than eightyears after thetime of the act giving rise to the cause of action.

      Notwithstanding the foregoing provision, if a person imprisoned for anyterm has access to the court for purposes of bringing an action, such personshall not be deemed to be under legal disability.

      (b)   Death of person under disability. If any person entitled tobring an action dies during the continuance of any disabilityspecified in subsection (a) and no determination is made of the cause ofaction accrued to the deceased, anyperson entitled to claim from, by or under the deceased, may commence suchaction within one year after the deceased's death, but in no event shallany such action be commenced more than eight years beyond the timeof the act giving rise to the cause of action.
