65-1707. Penalty for embalming without permission of coroner, when. It shall be unlawful to embalm a dead human body, when any fact withinthe knowledge or brought to the attention of the embalmer is sufficient toarouse suspicion of crime in connection with the cause of death of thedeceased, until permission of the coroner or where there is no coroner orin case of his absence or inability to act, a sheriff or county or districtattorney has first been obtained. Any person violating the provisions ofthis section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon convictionthereof shall be fined not less than twenty-five dollars ($25) nor morethan one hundred dollars ($100).
