Chapter 65.--PUBLIC HEALTH Article 6a.--MEAT AND POULTRY

      65-6a20.   Inspection of livestock, rabbits andpoultry beforeslaughter; separate slaughter for diseased; inspectionof carcasses.For the purpose of preventing the use in intrastate commerce of meat and meatfood products and poultry and poultryproducts which are adulterated, the secretary shall make an examinationandinspection, by inspectors appointed for such purpose, of alllivestock, domestic rabbits and poultrybefore such livestock, domestic rabbits and poultryare allowed to enter into any slaughtering, packing, canning or similarestablishment in this state in which slaughtering andpreparation of meat or meat food products or poultry and poultry productsof such animals are conducted for intrastate commerce. All livestock,domestic rabbits and poultry found onsuch inspection to show symptoms of disease shall be set apart andslaughtered separately from all other livestock, domestic rabbits andpoultry. When slaughtered as provided inthis section, the carcasses of such livestock,domestic rabbits or poultry shall be subject to a careful examination andinspection as provided by the rules and regulationsadopted by the secretary of agriculture.
