      66-1508.   Assessment exemptions for certain publicutilities.(a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b), the assessmentsprovided for under the provisions of this act shall not apply to motorcarriers, nor shall they apply to public utilities or common carrierswhich are under the jurisdiction of the commission solely in connectionwith the administration of the oilproration or oil and gas conservation acts, the expenditures inconnection with such regulations being otherwise provided for by feesand assessments levied under other acts against such public utilities orcommon carriers.

      (b)   Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a), motor carriersshall be subject to the assessment provided for in K.S.A.66-1502, and amendments thereto.
