      68-1039.   Designation of United States Highway 66 as a historic highway.United States Highway 66 is hereby designated as a historichighway. The secretary of transportation shall place signs along the highwayright-of-way at proper intervals to indicate that the highway is a historichighway. Such signs shall consist of the usual United States highway sign withthe words "Historic Route 66" printed on the face of the sign. The secretary oftransportation may accept and administer gifts and donations to aid inobtaining and installing suitable highway signs.
