Section 7-311 - Committee to establish policy for office discipline referrals in Anne Arundel County [Section subject to abrogation].

§ 7-311. Committee to establish policy for office discipline referrals in Anne Arundel County [Section subject to abrogation].
 

(a)  "Office discipline referral" defined.- In this section, "office discipline referral" means a school form that refers a student to the school's administrative office to act on a disciplinary matter. 

(b)  Established.- The Anne Arundel County Board of Education shall establish a committee to develop a policy and guidelines for administering office discipline referrals in the county. 

(c)  Composition.- The committee established under subsection (b) of this section shall consist of: 

(1) Two members of the Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County, of whom: 

(i) One shall be an elementary school teacher; and 

(ii) One shall be a secondary school teacher; 

(2) Two members of the Association of Educational Leaders, of whom: 

(i) One shall be an administrator of an elementary school; and 

(ii) One shall be an administrator of a secondary school; 

(3) One member of the Anne Arundel County-wide Citizen Advisory Committee; 

(4) One member who shall be a designee of the County Superintendent;  

(5) Two members of the Anne Arundel County Parent Teacher Association; and 

(6) One member of the Anne Arundel County Board of Education appointed by the current Chairman of the Board of Education. 

(d)  Chair.- The member of the Anne Arundel County Board of Education appointed in accordance with subsection (c)(6) of this section shall serve as the chair of the committee. 

(e)  Policy and guidelines.- On or before January 1, 2011, the committee shall develop and recommend a policy and guidelines for the administration of office discipline referrals in the county to the Anne Arundel County Board of Education for the county board's approval. 

(f)  Report.- Before the end of the 2011 session of the General Assembly, the county board shall present a report, in accordance with § 2-1246 of the State Government Article, to the Anne Arundel County Delegation on the approved office discipline referral policy in public schools in Anne Arundel County.
