Section 18-101 - Definitions.

§ 18-101. Definitions.
 

(a)  In general.- In this title the following words have the meanings indicated.

(b)  Board of County Commissioners.- "Board of County Commissioners" means the Board of County Commissioners of Queen Anne's County.

(c)  Housing project.-  

(1) "Housing project" means a work or undertaking to provide housing for persons of eligible income. 

(2) "Housing project" includes: 

(i) buildings, land, improvements, and other real or personal property that is planned, acquired, owned, used, developed, reconstructed, rehabilitated, or improved; and 

(ii) streets, roads, sewers, water service, and supporting public or private commercial, educational, cultural, recreational, community, and civic facilities that are needed for sound community development.

In paragraph (1) of this subsection, the former reference to a "portion of it [an undertaking or project]" is deleted as surplusage. 
 

In paragraph (2)(i) of this subsection, the reference to property that is "used" is added to state expressly what was only implied in the former law - that a housing project includes property that is in any way used. 
 

Also in paragraph (2)(i) of this subsection, the reference to "housing" is substituted for the former reference to "dwelling accommodations" to conform to the terminology used throughout this article. 
 

Also in paragraph (2)(i) of this subsection, the former reference to "mixed ... [properties] or an interest in them" is deleted as included in the reference to "real or personal" property.

"Real property"                                                      § 12-101

(d)  Person of eligible income.- "Person of eligible income" means an individual or a family that lacks sufficient income or assets without financial assistance to live in decent, safe, and sanitary housing without overcrowding.

The reference to "housing" is substituted for the former reference to "dwellings" to conform to the terminology used throughout this article. 

(e)  Queen Anne's Authority.- "Queen Anne's Authority" means the Housing Authority of Queen Anne's County.
