Section 12-820 - Membership.

§ 12-820. Membership.
 

(a)  Composition; appointment of members.-  

(1) The Board consists of the following nine members: 

(i) as an ex officio member, the Commissioner; and 

(ii) eight members appointed by the Governor with the advice of the Secretary and with the advice and consent of the Senate. 

(2) Of the eight appointed members of the Board: 

(i) one shall represent a major elevator manufacturing company or its authorized representative; 

(ii) one shall represent an elevator servicing company; 

(iii) one shall represent the architectural design profession; 

(iv) one shall represent a municipal corporation in the State; 

(v) one shall represent a building owner or manager; 

(vi) one shall represent labor involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of elevators; and 

(vii) two shall be members of the public. 

(b)  Tenure; vacancies.-  

(1) The term of an appointed member is 3 years. 

(2) At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is appointed and qualifies. 

(3) A member who is appointed after a term has begun serves only for the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.
