600.819 Annual convention; election of state presiding probate judge; designation of successor; appointment of probate judges; election of president and other officers; powers and duties; committee on rules and procedure.

Sec. 819.

The several probate judges may meet in annual convention before October 1 of each year, at which convention they shall elect from among the judges a state presiding probate judge for the ensuing year, commencing on January 1 next following. In case of the death, removal, or disability of the state presiding probate judge, the governor shall designate his successor from among the probate judges to serve for the balance of the unexpired term. The state presiding probate judge shall appoint probate judges to hold court in another county as provided in this act. The convention shall elect a president and such other officers who shall have such powers and perform such duties as the convention may determine. The state presiding judge shall appoint as 1 of the committees of the probate judges' convention, a committee on rules and procedure which committee shall draft rules for uniform practice and procedure in the probate court of this state, which rules if and when adopted by the supreme court shall be binding upon the probate court in each county and probate court district in this state.
