Memorial for workers killed or disabled on the job--committeecreated, members, qualifications--fund established, investment, fundnot to lapse into general revenue.

8.900. 1. A permanent memorial for workers who were killed on thejob in Missouri or who suffered an on-the-job injury that resulted in apermanent disability shall be established and located on the grounds of thestate capitol. The memorial shall be of a design selected by a competitionorganized by the "Workers Memorial Committee" which is hereby created. Theworkers memorial committee shall be composed of the members of the board ofpublic buildings, or their designees, two members of the house ofrepresentatives, one from each political party, selected by the speaker ofthe house, and two members of the senate, one from each political party,selected by the president pro tem of the senate. The members of thecommittee shall serve without compensation but shall be reimbursed for allactual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their officialduties for the committee.

2. There is hereby established in the state treasury the "WorkersMemorial Fund". Gifts, grants and devises may be deposited in the workersmemorial fund. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 33.080, RSMo,moneys in the fund shall not revert to general revenue. The statetreasurer shall invest the moneys from the fund in the same manner as otherstate funds are invested. Interest accruing to the fund shall be depositedin the fund and shall not be transferred to the general revenue fund.
