Charges forwarded to officer exercising general court-martialjurisdiction, when--delay requirements.

40.117. When a person is held for trial by generalcourt-martial the commanding officer shall, within eight daysafter the accused is ordered into arrest or confinement, ifpracticable, forward the charges, together with the investigationand allied papers, to the officer exercising generalcourt-martial jurisdiction. If that is not practicable, thecommanding officer shall report in writing to such officer thereasons for delay.
