44.235. To implement its responsibilities, the commissionmay:
(1) Review state budgets and review grant proposals, otherthan those grant proposals submitted by institutions ofpostsecondary education to the federal government, for earthquakerelated activities and to advise the governor and the generalassembly thereon;
(2) Review legislation programs relating to earthquakesafety, to advise the governor and general assembly concerningthe proposals and to propose needed legislation;
(3) Recommend the addition, deletion or changing of stateagency standards when, in the commission's view, the existingsituation creates undue hazards or when new developments wouldpromote earthquake hazard mitigation, and conduct public hearingsas deemed necessary on the subjects;
(4) In addition, the commission may perform any of thefunctions contained in subdivisions (1) to (3) of this section,inclusive, in relation to other natural disasters.
