Manner of purchasing and condemning lands.

77.170. The mayor and common council, in proceeding byordinance to purchase and condemn lands for the purpose stated insection 77.160, may proceed in the manner provided by law for theestablishment of streets, avenues, alleys or marketplaces orpublic squares, but it shall not be necessary to establish abenefit district or assess benefits, or, unless there arenonresident or unknown defendants, to give notice by publicationas therein provided; and on such condemnation and the payment ofthe appraisement as therein provided, the title of such landsshall vest in such city for the uses and purposes for whichtaken.
