Itemized statement of receipts and expenses--accounts to beexamined, how.

78.180. The council shall each month in cities having apopulation of ten thousand and less than thirty thousand, andevery three months in cities having a population of threethousand and less than ten thousand, print in pamphlet form adetailed itemized statement of all receipts and expenses of thecity and a summary of its proceedings during the preceding monthor preceding three months, according to the population of suchcity, and furnish printed copies thereof to the city library, thedaily and weekly newspapers of the city and to persons who shallapply therefor at the office of the city clerk. At the end ofeach year the council shall cause a full and complete examinationof all the books and accounts of the city to be made by competentaccountants and shall publish the result of such examination inthe manner above provided for publication of statements ofmonthly or quarterly expenditures.
