Arrests--procedure (Kansas City).

84.650. The commissioners of police shall cause all personsarrested by the police to be brought before some judge withinsaid cities, to be dealt with according to law. Proper policeofficers in charge of police station houses may, if the offensecharged against any person is a bailable one, at the request ofsuch person, take from him a recognizance in such sum as may seemto be sufficient and proper with sufficient sureties for hisappearance at the proper time before some judge; but no attorneyat law, police officer, constable or his deputy, and no officialemployee holding office under the municipality of the saidcities, or the state of Missouri, and no clerk in the employ ofsuch officer, officials or employees shall be accepted as suretyupon such bond or bonds; the proper officers in charge of saidstation houses may administer oaths to parties qualifying as suchsurety or sureties; and may refuse to receive as such surety orsureties any and all parties with unsavory reputations or who, asprofessional bondsmen, tend to defeat the ends of justice, and noone shall be accepted as bondsman who shall have standing againsthim an unsatisfied judgment rendered on a forfeited bond.
