86.1140. 1. Should any member be granted leave of absence by theboard of police commissioners, such member shall not, because of suchabsence, cease to be a member.
2. If a member is on leave of absence by authority of the board ofpolice commissioners for thirty consecutive days or less, such member shallreceive creditable service for such time.
3. Except as provided in subsection 3 of section 86.1110, if a memberis on leave of absence for more than thirty consecutive days withoutcompensation, such member shall not receive service credits for such timeunless such member shall, within one year after returning from suchabsence, pay into the retirement system an amount equal to the member'scontribution percentage at the time such absence began times an assumedsalary figure for the period of such absence, computed by assuming thatsuch member received a salary during such absence at the rate of the baseannual salary the member was receiving immediately prior to such absence.
