Widow and children may be awarded retirement pay, when.

87.440. If any member of such fire department shall dieafter having been retired and pensioned by reason of injuriessustained or disease contracted while serving as a member of thedepartment, his widow, provided their marriage shall haveoccurred prior to such retirement, and children under sixteenyears of age, if any, shall be paid monthly out of the pensionfund such sum of money as may be determined by the rules andregulations provided for the management of said funds. If therebe no widow, or if such widow die while unmarried, the amount ofher said benefit may be added to the said benefits for suchchildren.
