Examination of officers' accounts and vouchers in metropolitandistricts--report to mayor.

165.181. At the close of each fiscal school year, the mayorof the city shall appoint one or more expert accountants, whoshall examine the books, accounts and vouchers of the treasurerand all other departments of expenditure of the board of themetropolitan district and shall make due report thereof to themayor and the board of education of the city. All the officersand employees of the board shall produce and submit to theaccountants for examination all books, papers, documents,vouchers and accounts in their office belonging or pertaining tothe office, and shall in every way assist the accountants intheir work. In the report to be made by the accountants they maymake any recommendation they deem proper as to the businessmethods of the officers and employees. A reasonable compensationfor the services shall be paid by the board.
