167.275. 1. Effective January 1, 1991, all public and nonpublicsecondary schools shall report to the state literacy hotline office inJefferson City the name, mailing address and telephone number of allstudents sixteen years of age or older who drop out of school for anyreason other than to attend another school, college or university, orenlist in the armed services. Such reports shall be made either by usingthe telephone hotline number or on forms developed by the department ofelementary and secondary education. Upon such notification, the stateliteracy hotline office shall contact the student who has been reported andrefer that student to the nearest location that provides adult basiceducation instruction leading to the completion of a general educationaldevelopment certificate.
2. All records and reports from or based upon the reports required bythis section shall be made available by free electronic record on thedepartment's web site or otherwise on the first business day of each month.The names of the students who drop out and any other information whichmight identify such students shall not be included in the records andreports made available by free electronic media.
