Discipline of students.

178.835. 1. The governing body of each public community collegedistrict and each public school district offering community college coursesshall possess full power and authority to adopt rules and regulations for theguidance and supervision of the conduct of its college students; to enforcecompliance therewith; and to delegate to appropriate persons in the districtthe power to discipline students, including the power of suspension andexpulsion, for violation of such rules and regulations.

2. The governing body may also delegate to any administrator or actingadministrator designated by the governing body the power to suspend summarilyany student whose presence on the district facility would, in the opinion ofsuch administrator or acting administrator, seriously disrupt the operation ofthe district, or constitute a danger to the records or other physicalproperties of the district or to the health, safety or welfare of the studentor other persons. Such summary suspension shall not exceed a period of fivedays, unless within such time the district has commenced formal disciplinaryprocedure and diligently pursues each procedure until its conclusion, in whichevent such summary suspension may be continued until such conclusion.
