190.051. 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 190.050 and190.052 to the contrary, upon a motion by the board of directors indistricts where there are six-member boards, and upon approval by thevoters in the district, the number of directors may be increased to sevenwith one board member running district wide, or decreased to five or threeboard members. The ballot to be used for the approval of the voters toincrease or decrease the number of members on the board of directors of theambulance district shall be substantially in the following form:
Shall the number of members of the board of directors of the.............. (Insert name of district) Ambulance District be (increasedto seven members/decreased to five members/decreased to three members)?

2. If a majority of the voters voting on a proposition to increasethe number of board members to seven vote in favor of the proposition, thenat the next election of board members after the voters vote to increase thenumber of directors, the voters shall select one person to serve inaddition to the existing six directors as the member who shall run districtwide.
3. If a majority of the voters voting on a proposition to decreasethe number of board members vote in favor of the proposition, then thecounty clerk shall redraw the district into the resulting number ofsubdistricts with equal population bases and hold elections by subdistrictspursuant to section 190.050. Thereafter, members of the board shall beelected to serve terms of three years and until their successors are dulyelected and qualified.
4. Members of the board of directors in office on the date of anelection pursuant to this section to increase or decrease the number ofmembers of the board of directors shall serve the term to which they wereelected or appointed and until their successors are elected and qualified.
